Is it acceptable to anglicize the pronunciation of Hebrew names when reading the Bible in English? Or should one be faithful to the original Hebrew pronunciations? For instance, the name transliterated Barak would be, in anglicization, "BAY-rack," but in a Hebraic pronunciation, "ba-RAHK" (like the presidential candidate). My wife advocates for the former, but I for the latter.
Any favorite anglicized murderings of Hebrew names? (My personal favorite is "Efreyuhm and Manassey.")

Isn't there a town in northern Georgia named Ellijay? That's a good one.
There was a character in The Grapes of Wrath named Rosasharn, an American west version of "Rose of Sharon."

Who would ever think of pronouncing a Bible name in such a way as to sound English! It's preposterous!
